What Is the Difference Between Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum CBD?

While looking for the right CBD product, you might have come across the terms “full-spectrum CBD” and “broad spectrum CBD.” But what do these terms mean, and what is the difference?

What Is CBD?
Before we dive into the different spectrums, let’s first discuss CBD.
CBD derives from the cannabis plant and is one of the over 100 different compounds present in the plant. CBD interacts with our endocannabinoid system. The ECS is responsible for releasing chemicals that interact with and regulate sleep, mood, appetite, and more.
While studies are still inconclusive, recent research has shown promising results with people taking CBD.
Full-Spectrum CBD
Now that we know the basics of CBD, let’s take a look at the different spectrums.
Full-spectrum CBD is made up of all the components of cannabis. This means that it also contains small amounts of THC. However, in the States, the acceptable and legal amount should be less than 0.3%.
The types of CBD oil with the “full-spectrum” label are usually more effective than the broad-spectrum CBD. However, if you take a large dose, you run the risk of becoming high. THC is the psychoactive compound that produces the infamous high in cannabis.
And since it does contain THC, you also run a risk of testing positive on a drug test.
Broad-Spectrum CBD
Broad-spectrum CBD oil, on the other hand, contains zero THC. It does, however, contain different components of the cannabis plant.
This means that these types of CBD products are not CBD alone. CBD isolate contains 100% CBD and has no other components derived from the cannabis plant.
Some studies suggest that broad-spectrum is less effective than full-spectrum as the CBD products work best when all plant components are present. However, these studies are currently inconclusive.
This, however, does not mean that it is not helpful. On the contrary, research suggests that it is still helpful to your health, with the other components still present, such as other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.
Full-Spectrum vs. Broad-Spectrum: Which One Is Better?
This really depends on what you are looking for in CBD. If you are looking for an effective solution to some of your ailments, consider full-spectrum CBD oil.
If you are lightweight and do not want to run the risk of getting high, broad-spectrum is an excellent solution. You will have no risk of getting high, even if you take a larger dosage.
There are many different types of CBD products, such as topicals, capsules, tinctures, and edibles. So check with your doctor to determine which product is right for you.
