Southern California City Council Condemns Judge Who Approved Bail for Vice President’s Murder Suspect
Earlier this month, the Chino City Council stepped up its efforts to criticize San Bernardino Superior Court Judge Carla D. Hutson. Judge Carla D. Hutson has lowered bail for a man accused of killing Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Isaiah Cordero in a Julpa Valley traffic stop.
Cordero, 32, was killed by 44-year-old San Bernardino County resident William Shay McKay, Sheriff Chad Bianco said. He noted in his December that he lowered McKay’s bail in 2021, despite Hutson being his three-time felon.
“We wouldn’t be here today if the judge was at work.” Bianco then said.
Now, the Chino City Council is also speaking out against Hutson.
Chino Mayor Eunice Ulloa said on Feb. 7 the city council sent a letter to state and county level officials in support of Hutson’s resignation or “at the very least” asked her to face a criminal case. It was unanimously approved to send the requesting letter.
“The City of Chino City Council will always support the Chino Police Department and neighboring law enforcement agencies,” Ulloa added. “San Bernardino County Superior Court Judge Carla Hutson, presiding over this case, has demonstrated a lack of discernment and negligence in granting bail to this violent individual.”
