All northbound lanes on Hawthorne’s 405 Freeway were closed Thursday night to investigate a shooting involving California Highway Patrol officers.
SigAlert The CHP said the order was issued to the Inglewood Avenue lane shortly before 8:00 p.m.
Authorities first received a call reporting a fire at a homeless camp near the ramp to Highway 405 in Rosecrans. When the police arrived, they found someone who had become uncooperative and started throwing bricks at them.
It was then that the suspect was shot by the CHP, officials said.
Sky5 images show traffic significantly backed off for more than a mile as officers closed a lane of the highway for an investigation.
No CHP officers were injured in the incident. The suspect’s status remains unknown.
No reopening date has been announced.
