Gilroy man, 72, arrested for attempted murder of wife
Gilroy, California (cron) — The Gilroy Police Department arrested a man Wednesday night on suspicion of trying to murder his wife, police said in a Facebook post. He was taken into custody after being found dead.
Gilroy police responded to a request for medical assistance at 9:38 p.m. at Block 6900 on Glenview Drive. According to GPD, Ravena was standing in an open doorway with a gun pointed at them when police arrived.
Ravena then briefly reappeared after retreating into the house, saying that his wife was dying inside. Police said Ravena told officers to shoot him, but he was detained with the help of K9.
The 82-year-old victim was taken to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries. Police said she is expected to survive.

Police found a gun in the residence, but believe the victim’s injuries were caused by blunt force trauma. GPD said it believed another “tragedy” had occurred had the officers not responded.
