Bay Area driver crashes into $99,000 car bought with stolen ID, police say

San Rafael police investigating the hit-and-run accident found that the driver allegedly committed identity theft to purchase the $99,000 car.
Police went to the BioMarin at 770 Lindaro Street early Monday morning to investigate the crash and found a 2022 Infiniti QX80 vehicle in the area.
The driver, a 42-year-old San Rafael woman, was under the influence of drugs and knocked over a lamppost, said Police Lieutenant Scott Everle.
Officers arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence and searched her vehicle, where they found IDs, checks, allegedly stolen credit card information and other evidence of possible fraud, Eberle said. Stated.
A woman admitted to stealing someone’s identity in order to buy and register a car from Infinity of Marine.
The Infinity had been stolen at one point, and a woman reported it under a pseudonym at the time of purchase, Hébert said. Recovered in San Francisco.
The suspect was incarcerated in Marin County Jail on seven counts of fraud-related felony charges and a DUI, Eberle said. She was not listed as being in custody Wednesday and she did not respond to messages listed at her number.
