App helps rescue woman in crashed car: California officials
A woman was rescued from a car that crashed 200 feet under the road after her family tracked her whereabouts with the “Find My iPhone” app, according to California officials.
fire staff has been dispatched To Highway 18 north of 40th Street, according to a Dec. 26 Facebook post by the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
According to the release, the woman was driving back from a family gathering when she was hit by a car and fell 200 feet down the road.
When her family didn’t hear anything from her, they tracked her phone with Apple’s Find My iPhone app, officials said. They went to her phone location, found her and called her 911.
The crew “initiated an advanced life support intervention” and rescuers set up a rope system to pull the woman onto the road, fire officials said.
She was then put into an ambulance and taken to a local hospital, authorities said.
San Bernardino is about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.
