Yosemite receives millions in grant funding for climate change research

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, California (KFSN) – Services within Yosemite National Park will continue to expand thanks to funding from Yosemite Conservancy.

Fourteen million dollars will help fund and address the challenges of climate change, promote diversity and encourage cycling within the park.

The money will also allow researchers to learn about and address the threats posed by giant sequoias.

The plan is to install insect sensors and traps to monitor responses to drought, fire and insect attacks.

Another grant will focus on climate research by taking aerial photographs.

In recent years, the conservation has provided more than $ 140 million in grants to the park.
