WANT to check out most of our lottery numbers, there are some winners who have never come forward to claim their prizes.
From those who missed the deadline to those who lost their lottery ticket, here are some of the biggest in the world unclaimed lottery prizes.
There are several reasons why players do not claim their lottery prizes.
They may have lost their ticket, they did not check their numbers on time, are not aware that there are prizes other than the Jackpot, or do not know when the claim deadline.
As the days went by, billboards were erected and appeals were made to find the winner, but the £ 64 million jackpot expired on 5 December 2012, following the six-month limit.
The prize was actually won by not one but two players. While the winning ticket was left unclaimed in the United Kingdom, a Belgian player demanded their half of the prize.
The largest unsolicited ticket was inside GeorgiaUS, when an unlucky player missed out on a $ 77 million Powerball Jackpot prize.
The person had purchased the ticket at a truck stop in Tallapoosa, before the June 29, 2011 draw, but could not claim the ticket for the 180-day deadline. The tick expired in December of that year.
A winning Mega Millions ticket worth $ 68 million bought n Queens, New York for the December 24, 2002 draw was left unclaimed, and then expired.
A year later, however, a man named Fritzner Bechette claimed to have been the lucky winner of the Mega Millions draw.
He filed a lawsuit against the new york State Lottery at the Queens High Court, claiming he had been trying to claim his ticket since the day the results were announced.
Bechette charged the entity for losing the jackpot, plus interest. Officials were told that the reason he did not claim his winnings was because his lottery ticket had disappeared in an “irrevocable” situation.
After investigations, officials announced that they did not find a lottery ticket that matched the player’s description, either in the New York State lottery archive or in Queens.
More recently, a February 2016 $ 63 million SuperLotto Plus ticket was not claimed in California after the usual deadline.
One day, a Los Angeles resident named Brandy Milliner came forward to claim the prize, and told officials he had purchased the winning ticket on August 8, 2015.
Initially, officials sent Milliner a letter in which they congratulated him on his win.
But soon enough, they contacted him to say that he would not receive the $ 63 million prize because of the condition of the ticket.
Despite a complaint, officials investigating his claim found that Milliner’s ticket did not match the winning ticket, and that his ticket had been brought to the winning ticket at a different date and location.
The findings do not appear to have been confirmed by Milliner, who went on to claim that he was the rightful winner of the award.
In an interview in 2017, he confirmed that he would continue to take legal steps to win back his alleged millions.
