Woman killed, man wounded in shooting at Carlsbad park

A 28-year-old woman was killed and a man injured in a shooting at Carlsbad Park on Saturday night, police said.

The shooting took place around 11:00 pm at Eureka Place’s Holiday Park near Chestnut Avenue.

Police said they found that a woman and a 27-year-old man each had at least one gunshot wound. According to Carlsbad police lieutenant Christie Calderwood, the woman died by the time she was taken to the hospital, despite medical assistance from fire department paramedics.

The man was hospitalized and his condition is currently unknown, police said early Sunday.
