Bakersfield, CA (KERO) —According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman was kicked out of her car and killed after landing in Bakersfield on Sunday night.
Police responded to reports of a vehicle crashing on the southbound highway at around 8:30 pm. 204, east of the highway. 99, CHP said.
A 24-year-old woman was driving a red Cadillac south on the highway. CHP said the driver was kicked out by moving across both lanes for unknown reasons, leaving the road and capsizing at 204.
Cadillac stopped on a dirt service road above the driver, CHP said. According to the CHP, the driver was fatally injured.
Drivers do not appear to be using seat belts, and alcohol and drugs are suspected causes of collision, CHP said.
The crash is still under investigation.
