A winner has been crowned in the annual World’s Ugliest Dog competition – and its owner is enthusiastic.

Jeneda Benally took home the $ 1500 prize money after her dog, Mr Happy Face, was announced the winner at this year’s ceremony in Petaluma, California.

While the 17-year-old Chinese Crested pooch took the top spot, there were several worthy runners.

Ann Lewis’s fluffy puppy Wild Thing came in second, while Scotch Haley’s dog Monkey came in third.

The contest, which promotes the adoption of animals over the purchase of a breeder, was held yesterday in Sonoma County, Petaluma, following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Mr. Happy Face himself was adopted by owner Jeneda after he was rescued from a burglar’s house.

This year’s judges were comedians Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart.
