WHO recommends against mass vaccinations for monkeypox

Despite the latest cases of the monkey worldwide, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday that it recommends not getting a massive vaccine against the disease “at this time.”

Guideline The WHO discusses the use of smallpox vaccines as a way to prevent the spread of monkeys.

“Although batang vaccines are expected to provide some protection against monkeys, there is limited clinical data and limited supply,” said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General.

Instead, the WHO recommends vaccines aimed at those at high risk of contracting the virus and those who are at risk.

According to guidelines issued by the WHO on Tuesday, the organization recommends that those exposed to the virus be vaccinated to prevent the disease from spreading within four days of first exposure.

The WHO recommends vaccinations to health workers at risk, to laboratory workers working with orthopox viruses, to clinical laboratory staff performing diagnostic tests against monkeys, and to others who may be at risk according to national policy.

“Deciding whether or not to use vaccines should be taken together by people at risk and health care providers, based on a risk-benefit assessment, on a case-by-case basis,” Tedros said.

Tedros said 1,600 cases of monkey pox have been reported worldwide. The virus has been detected in more than three dozen countries, including 32 new victims.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the risk of being a monkey in public is low, but you should avoid contact with others if you experience a skin rash.

Symptoms of monkeypox are common in rash, fever, discomfort, headache, and muscle aches.
