What is the new COVID-19 variant BA.2, and will it cause another wave of infections in the US?

A new strain of the omicron virus that causes COVID-19, BA.2, is rapidly becoming the leading cause of infection in global warming. Immunologists Prakash Nagarkatti and Mitzi Nagarkatti of the University of South Carolina explain what the differences are in the past, whether there will be another increase in the United States and how best to protect yourself.

What is BA.2, and how is it related to omicron?

BA.2 is new subvariant and omicron, a major strain of SARS-CoV-2 strain that produces COVID-19. While the origin of BA.2 is still unknown, it has quickly become a major phenomenon in many countries, including India, Denmark and South Africa. It is continued to spread in Europe, Asia and many parts of the world.
