After months of publicity, NFT auctions, and even a Netflix documentary series, it’s finally here. The four crew members of Inspiration 4 head to space.

How is this launch different from previous launches? None of the four on board are astronauts. This mission is the first time that all civilian crew members fly into space. Meet them:

  • Jared Isaacman, a 38-year-old billionaire, got his fortune from payment processing company Shift4Payments, which was released last summer. He is a mission commander.
  • Sian Procter, a professor at a community college with a PhD in science education. Proctor was one of the 47 finalists NASA chose for the 2009 astronaut class, but not one of the nine who were eventually chosen to join NASA. .. She is an Inspiration 4 pilot and will be the first black woman to fly a spaceship. She is 51 years old
  • Haley Arseno, a 29-year-old assistant doctor at St. Jude Research Hospital and a survivor of childhood cancer. She will be a crew health officer.
  • Lockheed Martin’s data engineer and former camp counselor at Space Camp, Christopher Sembroski. The 42-year-old is a mission specialist.

The crew will cruise to orbit within the SpaceX Crew Dragon Capsule launched by the Falcon 9 rocket. They spend three days flying around the globe before flying to the Atlantic Ocean off Florida.

SpaceX’s Youtube channel hosts a live launch webcast from 3:45 pm EST with a 5-hour launch window. 8:02 PM EST.. As of Sunday, Inspiration4 said the weather conditions at the Kennedy Space Center looked 70% better. There is also a backup startup window that opens at the same time the next day.
