Superheroes aren’t the only ones wearing masks in downtown San Diego this weekend.

After two years of absence Comic Con International Return to San Diego on Friday to entertain, inform and appetize pop culture fans around the world.

But this is not the comic book you remember. This is the Comic-Con Special Edition, a three-day event on a holiday weekend that limits congestion during an ongoing pandemic that has forced an online-only version of the last two conventions.

The Comic-Con organizer said he would like to hold a face-to-face event, but it will be held safely. That meant fewer days, a smaller range, and a return to an intimate gathering that long-time participants lovingly remembered.

And that means attendees will be asked to show evidence of vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test. You should also wear a mask or face cover regardless of vaccination status.
