Vigil honors 12-year-old killed in violent South Gate crash involving off-duty sheriff’s deputy

Southgate, CA (KABC)-The Southgate community has gathered to remember a 12-year-old boy. Died in a severe collision Two weeks ago, he involved an off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff’s lieutenant.

Isaiah Rodriguez was in the passenger seat of the car when he collided with another vehicle at the intersection of San Juan Avenue and Firestone Boulevard on November 3. His 19-year-old sister was injured in a crash.

A woman trying to help a young victim during the crash called out on Wednesday’s alert.

“We need justice for that little boy, his sister and his family. His mother is now hurting and hurting,” said Carlene Juarez. “Christmas and Thanksgiving are approaching and she has no boy.”

Investigators believe that speed may have been the cause of the crash. No off-duty agent has been identified. The case is still being investigated by the South Gate Police.
