Vehicles ablaze in Otay Mesa junkyard fire

On Saturday, several vehicles burned in the Otaimesa junkyard, producing large black smoke in the border area.

According to the San Diego Fire Department, the flame was reported around noon on the Cactus Road block just south of Route 905.

According to fire authorities, several structures were protected by the fire brigade after being initially threatened by fire. Surrounded by fields and commercial warehouses, 20 homes have been evacuated.

Officials said the crew continued to focus their efforts on extinguishing several vegetation spot fires that sparked nearby and attacking major hells.

It was supported by several institutions such as Chula Vista, National City and Calfire. The crew was expected to be on site for several hours.

Smoke was seen from many parts of the county, slowing traffic on the SR-905 as a passing driver paused at Goke.
