Valley farmer robbed by thieves, sheriff’s office investigating

FRESNO, California (KFSN) – Farmer Ong Thao returned to work on her plot in Fresno County on Monday afternoon.

She grows mainly coriander and spinach, along with other vegetables, and sells her crops at local Farmer’s Markets.

On Sunday afternoon, she was robbed on her farm by three strangers who showed up in a black car.

The company tried to “give” her and her 75-year-old sister a ring and a necklace, they believe in an attempt to steal their real jewelry.

One of the suspects snatched the gold necklace from Ong’s neck.

The gold necklace has emotional value – it was a gift from her husband, who had saved money to buy it decades ago.

They stole her necklace – and her happy part.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case. Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office at 559-600-3111.
