Utility line fire near Old Town causes brief outage for almost 300 SDG&E customers –

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A utility line hit an arch and caught fire in the neighborhood of San Diego Old Town on Tuesday afternoon, causing a brief power outage to nearly 300 customers.

The outage was reported shortly before 6:30 p.m. after a utility line on the east side of Interstate 5 near Old Town San Diego State Historic Park caught fire, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

Some 295 SDG & E customers in Lindbergh Field, Ocean Beach, Golden Hills, Center City, Balboa Park and Midway were electrocuted as San Diego Fire Department units extinguished the blaze.

SDG & E reported that power was restored to its customers around 8:15 p.m. No further details were immediately available.
