Dave Snyder, Tsunami Warning Coordinator at the National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer, Alaska, said: CNN: “I’ve seen the waves pass through the Hawaiian Islands.”

Waves estimated to be 1-2 feet high are projected to hit the California coast between 7am and 7:30 am Pacific Standard Time.

“There aren’t very good forecasts because this event is based on volcanoes, not earthquakes,” Snyder added.

According to New Zealand’s National Emergency Management Agency, “strong and unusual currents on the coast and unpredictable surges” are expected.

On Saturday evening after the eruption, the meteorological station said it had observed a “pressure surge.”

Emily Lane, a scientist at the New Zealand National Institute for Water and Atmosphere, told the New Zealand Scientific Media Center that this was a “very serious” eruption.

“The shock waves from then on are clearly visible on satellite imagery, and there are reports that eruptions were heard at least as far as New Zealand,” she said. “The tsunami caused by the eruption reached more than 2,500 km and is recorded on the gauge of the entire Aotearoa.”

According to Lane, tsunamis caused by volcanoes are much less common than tsunamis caused by underwater earthquakes.

Yesterday’s eruption was large enough to be seen from space and caused a tsunami.

Hunga Tonga-After the “intense” eruption of Hunga Haapai volcano, 2.7-foot waves struck the streets of the Pacific country as locals scrambled the hills.

Officials said the eruption was so intense that it was heard as a “big thunder” in Fiji, more than 500 miles away.

Horrible satellite images from space show a huge eruption that lasted at least eight minutes, sending gas, ash, and smoke eruptions into the air for miles.

According to the Tonga Meteorological Bureau, the island’s capital is 65 km north of the volcano, so tsunami warnings have been issued throughout Tonga.

Tongan resident Mare Taufa said the eruption struck while her family was preparing dinner-and her brother thought the bomb was exploding nearby. ..

She told the New Zealand news site Stuff.co.nz: “My first instinct was to hide under the table. I grabbed my sister and shouted to my parents and others to do the same.”

Taufa next learned that water was flowing into their home.

“Everyone hears screams everywhere to get to the hills, and people are screaming for safety,” she said.
