UPDATE: 17-year-old boy drowns in Bass Lake

MADERA, California (KFSN) – A 17-year-old boy died after drowning in Lake Bass on Saturday night.

It happened around 7:45 p.m. in the Falls Beach area of ​​Bass Lake near the Willow Creek Trailhead of the Sierra National Park.

Madera County Sheriff’s Deputies say the boy went underwater and never returned.

Water rescue crews arrived to help and managed to find the boy and pull him out of the water 45 minutes later, at 8:30 p.m.

The first to respond immediately started KARPA.

The teenager was transported by ground ambulance to a helicopter, which then transported him to Valley Children’s Hospital.

On Sunday morning, authorities said the teenager was pronounced dead at the hospital.
