Ukraine President Thanks Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher for Massive Support Amid Russian Invasion

Volodymyr Zelensky is a very busy man nowadays.

Ukrainian President Zelensky has remained in the country’s capital, Kiev, amid Russia’s unsolicited and unjustified attack. He has held a press conference, spoken to other world leaders and is doing his best to remain strong in the face of a violent attack on democracy.

And more:

Zelensky found time this week to keep in touch with Hollywood superstars.

As you may have heard before, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher took advantage of their global platform this month to raise funds for the actress ’home country.

In a truly incredible and inspiring example of using a celebrity for good, Kunis and Kutcher also didn’t raise just minimal funds for a show or anything else.

They raised $ 35 MILLION.

“More than 65,000 of you donated,” Kunis said Monday in response to the money shed. “We are full of gratitude for the support.”

He pointed out that while donations will not solve the crisis, “our joint effort will provide a softer fall for so many people as they move forward into their uncertain future.”

Added by Kutcher:

“We will do everything we can to ensure that the outpouring of love that came from all of you as part of this campaign will have the greatest impact on those in need.

“As we continue to receive funding, we treat every dollar as if it had been donated out of our own pocket.”

The spouses previously vowed to pool all fundraising donations up to $ 3 million.

Yesterday, in response to everything Kunis and Kutcher have done for their destroyed people, Zelensky actually jumped into a Zoom call with the couple.

“I thank them for our people … for all of us,” the global hero said.

Zelensky called the actor and actor star tandem, “who believe in our victory in our future.”

Volodymyr Zelensky and the stars again

The president of Ukraine posted on Twitter a picture of his video conversations with the couple on social media, thanking them for being among the first to respond to the crisis.

“Grateful for their support. Impressed by their determination. They inspire the world. #StandWithUkraine,” Zelensky wrote.

According to the International Organization for Migration, more than three million refugees, including at least 1.5 million children, have fled the country in late February since the Russian invasion began.

While himself a “proud Ukrainian,” he wrote in his first GoFundMe-based video, explaining that he was born in Chernivtsi, a city in southwestern Ukraine, in 1983, and that his family traveled to America eight years later.

“Ukrainians are proud and courageous people who deserve our help in times of need,” he said.

“This unjust attack on Ukraine and all of humanity is devastating and the people of Ukraine need our support.”

Donations to GoFundMelle go to two organizations:

  1. Freight transport company Flexport, which arranges the transport of relief supplies to refugee destinations in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova.
  2. Airbnb, which offers free short-term housing for refugees from Ukraine.

We thank Kunis, Kutcher, and all the other celebrities who have dedicated their time and resources to this end.
