UC Berkeley declines group’s offer to admit 1K more students

BERKELEY, California (AP) – A group of locals has sued UC Berkeley to secure its minimum school enrollment given to allow 1,000 more students next school year.

Save Berkeley Neighborhoods said Saturday it is ready to settle a dispute with the state-run university if UC Berkeley ends its attempt to drop out this week to enroll in the 2020-21 school year.

The idea is that the university will accept about 3,000 fewer students than planned.

UC Berkeley denied the company’s offer, saying the enrollment decisions did not involve “a group of litigants.” The university is appealing the decision.
