Tyler Baltierra Shares Touching Poem for Daughter Carly on Her 13th Birthday

One of the most heartbreaking moments in a teenage mother’s history has always been when Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra decided to adopt their daughter Carlyn.

They themselves were so young, and the home life of both of them was chaotic and violent, so they did what was best for their baby.

It was an incredibly selfless decision, and it is both Catelynn and Tyler have struggled all these years ever since.

And believe it or not, it really has been 13 full years since their first daughter Carly was born.

Time flies, right?

Yeah, it’s been 13 years since MTV filmed that completely devastating episode 16 and Pregnant as Catelynn and Tyler sobbed after she was born Carlyn.

It’s been 13 years since they handed over Carly to her parents, Brandon and Theresa.

It has to be a bittersweet time for them when they think which could have been if they had made a different choice and wondered what his life was like now that he was officially a teenager.

But it turns out we don’t have to wonder too much about their thoughts – and that’s because Tyler has written a poem about the situation, which he shared on Instagram.

Along with the poem, she shared a picture of a hospital where she and Cate are holding Carly’s baby, and as a caption she wrote “Happy 13th birthday Carly! I don’t have words to describe how I feel today … so I thought I’d share the poem I wrote for her instead. “

Catelynn, Tyler and Carly

The poem is, to put it mildly, quite intense, so let’s just read it together and then go through it, right?

I never wanted to let you go

I hope you understand

I wanted to keep you in my arms forever

Like figning around my pink

In the palm of your little hand.

I remember your beautiful little face

Crocheted so tightly on the baby’s blanket

Your life is so innocent … and guess what?

I still have that baby blanket …

It is best folded next to my bed

and sometimes I bite it

Just to put it around my neck

and pretend to like you instead

Because I wake up every day

When you beat my heart

& dancing in my head

Oh how I wish you could

Roll in my hands

One day soon my love …

I promise to dance again

But until that day comes

I see you in my dreams

Playing a sweet memory with playback

My pink in the palm of your little hand

And there is a poem in it.

That’s a lot, you know?

It’s also such a difficult topic because there’s apparently been a lot of trauma in Carly’s adoption because of Tyler and Catelynn, and she’s never seemed to deal with it completely.

They’ve both commented in the past, which has made it sound like they think Carly will give up everything right away at the age of 18 and move to Michigan with them, and that just doesn’t seem likely at all.

Many people think that now that Carly is out of date, it might be uncomfortable for such stuff to float there.

After all, even though she is biologically their daughter, she has only seen them a few times, and Tyler publishes poems about her with the phrase “One day soon my dear I promise to dance again“…

Yes, as we said, that’s a lot.

What do you think of Tyler’s poem?
