Two seriously hurt in four-car hit-and-run accident in Talmadge

Two people were seriously injured on Friday night when a hit-and-run driver caused a chain reaction of three cars on Fairmount Avenue, just south of Interstate 8.

At 10:26 pm on Friday, an unknown car driver driving south on Fairmount crashed into a 2002 Saturn sedan driven by a 20-year-old man. The collision caused Saturn to rotate 90 degrees and was attacked by another southbound car, the 2012 Nissan Altima, driven by a 32-year-old man. Both of these cars crossed the low partition of the road into the northbound lane, and a 41-year-old driver of the 2014 Toyota Sienna northbound crossed Ultima, police said.

The Ultima driver was seriously injured in the back and head in the crash, and the passenger in the Ultima passenger seat was seriously injured in the back. The other driver was slightly injured and the unknown driver fled the scene. The San Diego Police Department of Transportation is investigating the accident.
