Two people lost their lives as a result of a collision of two vehicles north of Fontana in the early hours of Thursday morning, April 7, and a suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident, according to the Fontana Police Department.
At 1:47 a.m., police and San Bernardino County Fire Department units responded to the Citrus Avenue and Los Cedros Avenue area, said Fontana Public Information Officer Jason Delair.
Through investigations it was learned that an older Honda was making a left turn from Citrus heading north to Los Cedros. The Honda turned left in front of a Chevy truck that was heading south on the Citrus, police said.
The Chevy hit the side of the Honda passenger and the collision pushed the Honda into a brick wall in the southwest corner.
The two passengers on the right side of the Honda suffered serious injuries. One passenger, Shannon Flores, 51, of San Bernardino, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:06 p.m. San Bernardino County Sheriff Applicant Division.
The Honda driver was found to be suspected of driving under the influence and was later arrested at the West Valley Detention Center on charges of vehicle homicide, Delair said.
