PHELAN, California (VVNG.com) – Two men were arrested for possession of a firearm after leading police in a chase in the Phelan community on Monday.
On February 21, 2022, at 4:14 p.m., Victor Valley Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a car theft in 15200 Sheep Creek Road.
Sheriff’s officials said they were suspects, identified as 25-year-olds Christopher Mendeza resident of Apple Valley and a 54-year-old Jonathan Delavala resident of Grand Terrace, drove to a marijuana farm and waved his weapon.
The bullet was fired at two men on the property before stealing the victim’s black Honda Accord. Both suspects fled the site stolen by a Honda and a red Dodge truck, officials said.
The deputies located the vehicles and tried to stop them. The vehicles did not give way, so a chase ensued. Upon completion of the search, both suspects were detained without further incident.
According to a press release, “MPs found a holster, a Glock magazine and ammunition inside the vehicle. Mendez and Delaval were convicted of crimes and banned from possessing firearms and ammunition. ”
Mendez and Delaval are in the High Desert Detention Center without bail.
