Trump’s ‘Big Boy’ Jab at Biden Over ‘Vice President’ Slip-Up; Biden Fires Back
A war of words erupted between US President Joe Biden and his Republican rival Donald Trump after Biden accidentally referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as ‘Vice President Trump’ in his latest gaffe.
Former President Trump mocked Biden for the mistake during his press conference at a NATO event, dubbing him “Crooked Joe” and “Big Boy.”
“Crooked Joe begins his ‘Big Boy’ Press Conference with, ‘I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president, though I think she was not qualified to be president.’ Great job, Joe!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Facing mounting criticism over his age and mental fitness to serve a second term, especially after last month’s lackluster debate performance against Trump, Biden hit back, asserting he “knew the difference.”
“By the way: Yes, I know the difference. One’s a prosecutor, and the other’s a felon,” Biden tweeted, referencing Trump’s conviction in a hush money case involving porn star Stormy Daniels.
Biden’s Latest Gaffes
Earlier on Thursday, Biden mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as ‘President Putin’ during the same press conference.
Biden, joined by 32 allies and foreign leaders to announce the “Ukraine Compact,” a new initiative to bolster aid to Ukraine in its war with Russia, was inviting Zelenskyy to speak when he made the slip-up.
“I want to hand it over to the President of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination. Please welcome President Putin,” Biden said.
The 81-year-old Democrat initially began to walk offstage before realizing his error and returning to correct himself. “Zelenskyy is going to beat President Putin,” he added.
Zelenskyy appeared to take the mistake in stride, responding with a lighthearted comment. “I’m better,” he said.
The latest verbal slip-ups have led to a growing number of Democrats calling on Biden to withdraw from the re-election campaign. Even actor George Clooney, a major fundraiser for Democrats, has urged the President to quit the race.
Biden has repeatedly refused to end his re-election bid, asserting that he is the best person to defeat Trump again in the November 5 election.
