IN transgender woman convicted in 2014 just two years for raping a 10-year-old girl in a restaurant bathroom is now charged with murder in connection with a robbery three years ago, it emerged yesterday.
Hannah Tubbs, 26, formerly known as James, pleaded guilty in 2020 to sexually assaulting the young girl in a Denny’s bathroom in 2014, and was also charged with molesting a four-year-old one year before that incident.
She was only given a mild two-year cell to serve in a juvenile detention center with no obligation to register as a sex offender as a result of progressive LA District Attorney George Gascon’s progressive policy.
But Tubbs is now being held on a $ 1 million bond in Kern County, Californiaafter he was accused of second-degree murder and robbery in connection with the death of 22-year-old Michael Clark.
Clark’s body was found washed up in the Kern River in August 2019, after disappearing months earlier in April.
The criminal complaint – filed by the Kern County District Attorney’s Office – charged Tubbs under her birth name, James Edward Tubbs, and will return the defendant to court on May 20 for trial after pleading not guilty to both counts.
Gascon, meanwhile, admitted in February that his directive preventing teenagers from being tried in an adult court for serious crimes, meaning Tubbs was not registered as a sex offender, may have been too lenient.
“After her conviction in our case, I became aware of extremely difficult statements she made about her case, the resolution of it and the young girl she harmed,” said the DA, which stands for a recall vote.
‘If we had known of their contempt for the damage they had caused, we would have handled this matter differently.’
Tubbs showed no remorse for the misdemeanor crime and even scolded her father over the loose sentence over the jail phone.

CCTV footage shows Hannah Tubbs, aka James, entering a 2014 Denny’s restaurant in Palmdale, CA, where a 10-year-old girl was molested in the bathroom.

Tubbs was two weeks away from turning 18 when police said she ran into a women’s bathroom, locked a 10-year-old girl in a stable, grabbed her by the throat, shoved her hand into the child’s pants and continued to sexually assault her.
Tubbs only stopped when someone else entered the toilet.
She ended up with a slap-on-the-pulse sentence of just two years in a youth institution according to the reforms of LA DA Gascon.
In conversations revealed earlier this year, Tubbs publicly laughed at her generous plea deal and was heard mocking her 2014 victim from her jail.
She told her father in the November call that she did not have to register as a sex offender, and that “nothing” would be done to punish her for violently assaulting a 10-year-old, according to an audio recording that was acquired by Fox.
‘So now they’ll place me with other tranny’s who have seen their cases like mine or with one tranny like me who has a case like mine,’ Tubbs told her father.
Tubbs ended up with a slap-on-the-wrist sentence of just two years in a juvenile facility before the 2014 attack, according to LA District Attorney George Gascon’s reforms, even though she was just days old when she turned 18.
The 18-year-old Tubbs victim blamed Gascon for his handling of the case, which she described as “insulting”.
‘The things [Tubbs] did to me and made me do that day were more than horrible for a 10-year-old girl to go through, ‘said the young woman, referring to Tubbs as a man.
‘That man was very clear-minded and old enough to know what he was doing was wrong and still did it.
‘It’s something I’m struggling with and it’s insulting that this is all he got as a punishment. And I want to do something about it. ‘
Tubbs has a large criminal record including arrests in multiple states. She is pictured in some of her old mugshots taken prior to her transition from a man to a woman
DNA entered into a database matching Tubbs with the sexual assault at Denny’s and she was returned to California in 2019 – by that time she had already been arrested for battery, drug possession and probation violations in several states.
Tubbs was eventually brought to LA in November 2021, where she was sentenced to two years in a juvenile detention center.
By this point, Tubbs had passed away and was known as Hannah instead of James.
Deputy District Attorney Jon Hatami of LA County, a prosecutor and supporter of the movement to recall Gascon, said earlier this year that Tubbs was too dangerous to be in the youth system.
“This was done with limited guidance and no concern for public safety,” Hatami said of California’s system for dealing with violent youth.
“This clearly shows you the dangerous aspect of George Gascon’s blanket policy,” he said.
“Under George Gascon’s’ ‘reforms,’ a 26-year-old licensed child molester is being accommodated by young people,” Hatami said.
‘She can be released early, back in the community, without sex registration. Only innocent victims and the public suffer from the so-called progress of George Gascon.
“This is not someone who should appear in the youth system.”

Meanwhile, court documents from a 2013 incident show that the then 16-year-old Tubbs was also accused of exposing himself and molesting a four-year-old child, Fox News Digital reported.
The alleged attack took place in a library in Bakersfield, two hours away Los Angeleswhile the mother of the child sat ‘only a few went over’ in books.
The young victim told her mother that Tubbs, who was wearing a shaggy black shirt and shorts with blonde hair, brought her near closed bathrooms in the corner and touched her.
The little girl would escape while Tubbs tried to retrieve the bathroom keys and return to her mother ‘hysterically crying’, pointing to her mouth and private parts.
It is unclear what charges were filed against Tubbs or whether she was convicted because her records were sealed because she was a minor at the time.
