This fall foliage map predicts when Los Angeles will hit its colorful peak

The crunch of leaves under your feet after months of drought, autumn breezes scattering hot air all over the South, red and oranges everywhere because everything is on fire – there really is nothing like autumn in Los Angeles. But we exaggerate (just a little): LA is not completely free of seasonal charm and autumn greenery is no exception.

Of course, find out when that the only indicator of a fall will actually appear is half the challenge, but fortunately SmokyMountains.com there is a map to forecast autumn greenery for the entire country, including the Los Angeles area.

The annual interactive map that uses an algorithm that retrieves data from sources such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, tells what you probably already know: this greenery in Southern California lags behind much of the country. The map is set in Los Angeles to move from no change to minimal greenery until October 11, with a gradual advance to flower leaves each week thereafter. If you are looking for the peak period, you will have to wait until November 8, but not long after that, because a week later it will pass the peak.

Of course, any number of weather conditions can change these forecasts, including sun, rain and unfortunately fire. although all nearby national forests were closed for most of September, due to the danger of fire, they are open again and fortunately – for now – mostly without fire.

Once we make our way in October, it makes a little more sense to move from forecasts to observations. Natural science journeys has a set of greenery trackers, including its own weekly reports. And California autumn color (call his syllable “dude, autumn happens here too”) registers regular photo updates and even maintains map for the whole country which is updated every Friday.
