Things to do in the Sacramento area for June 17-19

Here are some things you can do this weekend in Northern California

Well, this weekend marks the 19th celebration of the day in 18 65 that the slaves in Texas learned about the proclamation of emancipation, realizing that they were free. And that means *** many celebrations take place over the weekend, including the three-day event that starts later tonight in Sacramento. With us now to talk more about this is Gary Simon with Sacramento, in his youth. Gary. Good morning Good morning. How are you; I’m fine, what are you doing? You’re good. We are getting ready for. Yes, let’s talk about the next three days. What happens? Well, Friday night, we will start tonight with of course this is the 19th annual Juneteenth Festival here in Sacramento. So, we will be hosting our three-day event that starts tonight with our gospel under the Stars concert, which will feature some of our local artists, uh, gospel artists and also, we will do *** what we call *** healing ceremony tonight because trauma is our theme this year. Violence, trauma and healing. So we will do a *** treatment ceremony to address *** many of the issues that occur with violence and then *** many of those that are affected by viol. Yes, keep talking about it because it focuses on systematic financial injustices. Why was this issue so important to you? Well, we believe that in the present times, you know, as with violence, eh, and the trauma that violence causes. I mean, we are naturally thinking about the deaths of those affected by the violence or those who have been hurt by the violence, but there is also the trauma associated with it. So we want to tackle it and discuss it. And from a *** bigger point of view, the trauma associated with slavery and enslavement of people and after the trauma of generations that happens with it. So we will deal with some of these issues as well as the issue of compensation that will be raised later on Saturday. So on Friday night we will go from 6 to 9. I did not say it will go from 6 to 9. And after Saturday we will go from 11 to 6 in the afternoon to the park and William Lambert Gary. We know that now is the *** federal holiday of June, it is discussed for you why it is so important to organize the festival and mark these specific events this weekend and this time. Well, I think juneteenth recognition is also *** recognition of American history, juneteenth is not just black history it is American history. So we want this message to come out and start making these discussions some tough discussions about enslaving *** people. So we want to start this, this is part of this type of wound healing. So we want to address the debate that leads to healing that leads to the reduction of part of the wound. Well, we want people to know about it and it’s very important that the United States recognized the year of youth and it all came with a *** result. Okay, we’ll get you out of this. What do you hope the community gets out of this weekend? Well, I hope we can learn and educate ourselves about history and, while learning and accepting the fact that it happened. This is a very dark day in American history, but we can talk about it. We can unite for this and then we can move on from here and as best we can. But we must first acknowledge that Gary Simon will set, thank you so much for being with us this morning. We really appreciate your time and of course *** reminder of these details of the festival once again. It all starts tonight at six with Gospel under the Stars. The concert. Tomorrow’s festive events will last from 11 a.m. until six p.m. And the weekend ends with the youth golf tournament on Sunday.
