‘The Princess Bride’ actor Cary Elwes recovering after rattlesnake bite in California

MALIBOU, California – Actor Carrie Elgus, best known for his role in “The Princess Bride”, is recovering well after a moment that many may find scary.

The English actor said he was bitten by a rattlesnake in Malibu at the weekend. He posted on Twitter a close-up photo of the bite on his finger.

“He was bitten not by ROUS, but by a rattlesnake,” the actor said, referring to the rat-like creature from his popular movie. “I thank the staff at Malibu Urgent Care, the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the staff and health professionals at @UCLAHealth for their great care.”

The paramedics were dispatched to a house at 23,000 Pacific Coast Highway just before 3 a.m. Saturday, the Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed to Eyewitness News.

Elgus was sent to the Ronald Reagan Medical Center UCLA after being bitten. The actor is said to have been working in the yard when he met the snake.

In his tweet, Elgus said he was “recovering well.”
