APPLE VALLEY, California (VVNG.com) – During a meeting on March 22, Apple Valley City Council voted 5-0 to move forward with a gradual approach to the future renovation of Hilltop House that will look similar to the existing structure.
At its meeting on April 12, the Council will consider engaging the Architerra Design Group to create a design concept as part of the City’s ongoing efforts to repurpose the iconic Hilltop House estate as an observatory and open space runway.
“The goal has always been to convert the property into a usable public space and lookout, and we are excited to continue with that work,” said city manager Doug Robertson. “We know how important this property is to the history and heritage of our community, and this next step will bring us closer to preserving that story in a safe and interactive way.”
On February 17, the city issued a Request for Proposals asking for a design consultant to examine the boundaries of the property, prepare an aerial survey, and make a conceptual design and image panels.
According to the announcement, the City received three proposals and interviewed the two most qualified companies.
“After the interviews, Architerra Design Group staff selected as the most qualified to continue the project due to previous experience in preserving and educating history, the strength of project team members and innovative ideas to try to preserve elements of Hilltop House,” the statement said.
The City Council will consider awarding the contract to Architerra at a session on April 12 at 6:30 pm at the City Council premises.
