Thanksgiving Campaign Underway at Long Beach Rescue Mission

Long Beach Rescue Mission, 1430 Pacific Avenue, has launched a Thanksgiving campaign seeking donations of $ 2.20 or more to provide food, shelter and services to those in need of this holiday season.

Long Beach-Long Beach Rescue Mission launches 2021 Thanksgiving campaign ahead of the holiday season. The mission is seeking public donations to help provide food, shelter, hygiene products, and services to endangered communities in the coming months.

Rescue missions, like most shelters, welcome many guests during the holiday season. Citizen donations help alleviate food, clothing and personal hygiene shortages while ensuring the continuity of all important services on the mission.

Donations include Thanksgiving meals on missions, clothing and other gently used items to the Mission Thrift Store, hygiene products for both Samaritan and Lydia homes, or any amount.

Thanksgiving campaign revenue will serve meals at the mission’s annual Thanksgiving dinner. Mission staff have confirmed that dinner will be held this year, but not during Thanksgiving. Supper will be held on Wednesday, November 24th, the day before, to provide people in need of more holiday meal options.

The Long Beach Rescue Mission provides free daily meals to people in need throughout the year. According to the website, “Providing food is often the first step in meeting the urgent needs of men, women and children in despair and despair. Your help and generosity. So our kitchen serves about 250,000 meals a year. “

Breakfast is served every morning and is only available to mission residents and guests. Lunch is open to the public and is served Monday to Thursday at noon. Sundays after chapel worship around 10:30 am Weekday lunch attendees must arrive and worship by noon. Dinner is also open to the public and is served 24/7.

Programs like “Dinner on Me” allow individuals, businesses, or organizations to donate a night’s meal to rescue mission residents in addition to their daily meals. A standard donation of $ 500 will provide a nutritious meal to all 300 people living there. Featured sponsors can send personalized messages to residents who appear with their names on the screen throughout the night.
