A 16-year-old boy has died after a major accident near the University of Texas on Friday, a San Marcos city spokesman has confirmed.
Addison Harley, who was among two people taken to Ascension Seton Hays Hospital in Kyle, died after the collision. An autopsy was ordered, the spokesman said.
The San Marcos Police Department, along with the San Marcos Fire and Hays County EMS, responded to the collision of several vehicles at the intersection of Aquarena Springs Drive and Charles Austin Drive shortly before 5 a.m. Friday, officials said.
Initial reports said a black Dodge Charger was traveling west on Aquarena Springs Drive when it struck the back of a Texas State bus that was stopped at a red light waiting to turn left at Charles Austin. After the charger hit the bus, it then spun and hit a Ford Mustang that was also waiting in the light.
The only passenger in the Mustang and the 12 passengers on the university bus were not taken to hospital after the crash, officials said.
According to a GoFundMe created by Harley’s family, he suffered a pre-accident crisis that caused him to depress the accelerator pedal.
“[Harley] “he did not respond on the way to the hospital and his heart stopped many times,” GoFundMe reports.
