Teacher reads bedtime story to students on Facebook Live 1 day after undergoing brain surgery

KD Meucci, a fourth-year teacher at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in Pittsburgh, learned last week that she had a brain tumor. She posted it on Facebook to her friends, students and parents. She said the tumor was “probably benign.” On Wednesday, Meucci had surgery to remove the tumor. She posted on Facebook again, stating that the doctor thinks she “understood everything” and is recovering. Then, on Thursday, from the hospital bed in her intensive care unit, Meucci returned to do what she always does on Thursday night. She went to Facebook Live and read the story to her students at bedtime. Franklin Bedtime Story is a closed Facebook group she created a few years ago to allow students and sometimes teachers to read bedtime stories to friends at school. Meucci used Facebook Live on Thursday night to read a book and reassure small learners to return to school as soon as possible. It’s a little funky, but I wanted you to see it and know that I’m okay, “Mrs. Meucci told her students while reading. “I love you and I miss you. I know tomorrow will be a great day strong and brave. Ben Franklin, I’m proud of you. Good night. I’ll give you I love you, I miss you, and I will meet you soon. ”Her motto is“ strong and brave ”. Meucci said the doctor believed he was able to get the entire tumor and she continued to recover.
