Jaime Jaquez Jr. and fourth-seeded UCLA Bruins traveled to Philadelphia for a match against North Carolina, eighth favorite, in the Sweet 16. This will be the third time the two college basketball blues have faced each other in the tournament.
Jáquez’s availability for Friday’s game was a popular topic among the Bruins this week. He suffered an ankle injury during the match against St. Mary from last week but is still scheduled to play tonight. Jáquez participated in the UCLA practice on Thursday, after telling reporters that it is still “day to day.”
UCLA coach Mick Cronin indicated that Jáquez will try to play against the Tar Heels.
“Jaime’s going to try it, guys,” Cronin said. “Unless something happens. The question is, will it be effective?”
