Suspected DUI Driver Jailed in Fatal SUV Crash into La Mesa Building That Killed 41-Year-Old

On Wednesday, a 61-year-old man was behind a bar allegedly killing a man in a building by crashing an SUV into an adult day care facility in Ramesa while driving drunk.

Ramesa’s Daniel Joseph Corona was arrested late Tuesday night in connection with the July 28 crash at University Avenue’s 7300 block.

Lamesa Police Lieutenant Greg Lunge said Corona headed east at about 5:30 pm, turning the road, crossing the sidewalk, and crashing into a commercial building containing the Golden Life ADHC Center.

This effect left a fatal injury to an employee of a 41-year-old company. Braden Jockmin, Declared dead on the scene by paramedics. Paramedics helped Corona from a damaged vehicle and took him to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

Corona was booked in San Diego Central Prison on suspicion of manslaughter of the vehicle, driving under the influence of controlled substances, and transportation and possession of drugs for sale.

Police did not reveal the type of drug the suspect had or was allegedly taking before the fatal crash. He was detained on $ 1 million on bail until the scheduled prosecution on Friday.
