Dub Takes Santa Clara Product Number 19

(cron) — A first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors are home to the achievements of Bay Area colleges. Golden State chose to take Santa Clara’s Brandin Pojemski in the 19th round.

In his only season with Santa Clara, Pojemski averaged 19.9 points per game. After spending one season in Illinois, he moved to Santa Clara.

The 20-year-old Pojemski shot well from deep in Santa Clara, shooting a whopping 43.8 percent of his 3-point shots. He also contributed in many other aspects of the game, posting 8.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

“I really like this nomination,” said ESPN analyst JJ Reddick after Pojemski’s election. “The Golden State Warriors are looking for someone who can contribute immediately. I love his edgy play.”

Pojemski’s pick marks the second year in a row that the Santa Clara Bronco is a first-round pick. The Oklahoma City Thunder have selected Jaylen Williams with the 12th overall pick in 2022. Before Williams, the last Bronco draft pick was Steve Nash (1996).

Even before picking Pojemski, the Warriors had a busy draft night. ESPN reported earlier Thursday that the team: agreed to the transaction Guard Jordan Poole has joined the Washington Wizards in exchange for 12-time NBA All-Star Chris Paul.

KRON4 spoke with Pozemski after practicing with the Warriors on May 31. You can see part of the interview in the tweet above.
