Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas hospitalized with infection, high court says

WASHINGTON – Judge Clarence Thomas is being treated for an infection, the Supreme Court announced on Sunday.

Thomas, 73, has been treated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, since Friday after experiencing “flu-like symptoms,” the court said in a statement.

The court gave no explanation as to why he waited two days to reveal that justice was in the hospital.

He also did not provide further details about the infection, but said Thomas was being treated with antibiotics and his symptoms were relieving.

He could be released in the next two days, the court said.

The Supreme Court is meeting this week to hear arguments in four cases. Thomas plans to take part in the cases, even if he lacks the arguments, the court said.

Thomas has been on the floor since 1991.
