Stockton police investigate attempted robbery at Bank of America

Stockton police said a gunman who tried to rob a Bank of America in the city was free on Tuesday and police secured a suspicious device found near the scene. Police wrote on Twitter at 1:38 p.m. that people should avoid the area near Block 400 of North Wilson Way in Stockton. Police told KCRA 3 that the gunman had entered the bank and tried to rob it. In the process, the suspect shot several times at the ceiling before fleeing. The man, who is described as wearing dark clothes, left the bank without receiving any money. No one was injured and everyone was evacuated from the bank, police said. Police later found a suspicious device near the building, and bomb technicians secured it. Police said they did not know if the device was left by the suspect. KCRA 3’s Kay Recede tweeted at 3:55 p.m. that the police started destroying the crime scene.
