Star Wars Celebration Anaheim: How to Watch, What’s Happened and What to Expect

“There has been an awakening. Did you feel it?” Fans from a galaxy far, far away gathered in California for the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim. It is the first such convention since Celebration Chicago 2019and will no doubt spawn a series of announcements upcoming Disney Plus showsvideo games and merchandise.

Celebration Anaheim runs from Thursday, May 26th through Sunday, May 29th, and there are more still some tickets left if you want to immerse yourself in Star Wars fandom.

fans can get autographs and photos by stars including C-3PO actors Anthony DanielsThe Mandalorian Kate Sackhoff and Karl Wetter, Boba Fett’s book Actors Temuera Morrison and The Last Jediis Kelly Marie Tran. Unfortunately for those who are hyped about it Obi Wan Kenobi Series Ewan McGregor sells out ahead of the show’s Disney Plus premiere on day two of Celebration Anaheim.

Unlike previous celebrations, this convention will not focus on an upcoming film. It will instead lean heavily on the upcoming Disney Plus series; we got our first look at Andor (precursor to Villain One) and some concrete details about The Mandalorian Season 3and we’ll probably catch a glimpse of The second season of The Bad Batch.

CNET is reporting live from the exhibition floor, catching the hype of the panel reveals and reunions and checking out the creative cosplay. Thursday, May 26th

The show started with one of the big panels. Lucasfilm Studio Showcase gave us the first trailer and an August 31st release for Andora Release date February 2023 for The Mandalorian Season 3 and the announcement of Coming-of-age show Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

The panel also hyped up some non-Star Wars Lucasfilm films and gave us the first trailer for the TV show Willow and the first picture of Indiana Jones 5.

Readers were given a foretaste of upcoming novels The High Republic: For Light and Life Panel discussion where the authors revealed details about it Phase 2 of the publishing initiative takes place hundreds of years before the Skywalker saga.

Friday May 27th

After getting up early (or staying up late) to watch the first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, it’s everyone’s turn Light & Magic Panel was probably a bit sleepy. Solo director Ron Howard and writer Lawrence Kasdan wowed everyone with a preview of a six-part documentary via Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm’s special effects division, ahead of the July 27 release of Disney Plus.

Remember how exciting it was to see Yoda wield a lightsaber for the first time? That was two decades ago (don’t feel old; it’s alright It’s good), and the Attack of the Clones 20th Anniversary Celebration Reminiscent of the second film in George Lucas’ prequel trilogy.

Actors Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen made surprise appearances to wow audiences and joined a panel that included co-stars Anthony Daniels, Temeura Morrison, Daniel Logan, as well as artist Doug Chiang, visual effects supervisor John Knoll and Sound editor Matthew Wood belonged.

For collectors is the Hasbro Star Wars panels offered looks at upcoming waves of 3.75″ figures and the highly detailed 6″ Black series, including the rogue inquisitors seen in Obi Wan Kenobi.

Saturday May 28th

The audience will likely chant “This is the Way” at the first big panel of the day: Mando+: A Conversation with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni (11 a.m. PT). We’ll likely get details about The Mandalorian season 3 and maybe even a release date and trailer. It would also be a good time to learn more about them Ahsoka Tano show and whether or not Boba Fett’s book gets a second season.

Celebration Anaheim will likely reveal when Grogu returns to Disney Plus.


Given the Number of Star Wars games in development, Celebration has a surprising lack of gaming panels. The only big one is Star Wars: Hunters – Welcome to the greatest show in the galaxy (1 p.m. PT), which will showcase developer Zynga’s upcoming multiplayer arena fighting game. It’ll hit Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android sometime this year, and we’ll likely get a release date on that panel.

We’ll see a new show featured in an afternoon panel: Tales of the Jedi (2:30 p.m. PT) is an anthological anthology series of short films. Lucasfilm hasn’t revealed anything about this project other than the name – which it shares it with a comic series from the 90s — but it will probably come to Disney Plus (like 2021 Star Wars: Visions).

Comics are in the limelight Marvel Star Wars Panel discussion (4:30 p.m. PT) in which Editor-in-Chief CB Cebulski takes the stage with a cast of writers and artists to discuss upcoming storylines and introduce new series.

Sunday May 29th

The last day of the congress is in the limelight Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 (11 a.m. PT). The team behind the CGI-animated Clone Wars spinoff will almost certainly give us a trailer for the second season and a Disney Plus premiere date.

That will follow A look back at Star Wars: Visions (12:30 p.m. PT), which will dip into last year’s Anime-inspired anthology series. It is possible that this panel will reveal that this show will return for more episodes.
