St. Paul’s Senior Services announced Wednesday that it has launched a $ 17 million fundraising campaign for extensive renovations in St. Paul. Paul’s Manor, an independent living community on Bankers Hill, has been supporting seniors for more than 60 years.

The Manor is the flagship of St. Paul’s Senior Services, a community that has given quality of life to thousands of independent seniors since it first opened in 1963. Now, the Bankers Hill building is in dire need of both cosmetics and infrastructure updates throughout the 11-story building.

The renovations will include updates to the exterior and public areas of the building, upgrades to the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic infrastructure, as well as aesthetic and structural updates to the 134 apartments as well. Construction should be completed by autumn 2022, although applications for premium apartments are in progress for potential new residents.

“We have a lot of residents looking forward to enjoying all the improvements, especially the addition of central air conditioning and new kitchens,” said Damien Rapp, manager of St. Louis. Paul’s Manor. “We also look forward to welcoming a new generation of active, retired seniors into our community as we continue to serve San Diego in the future.”

St. Paul’s has received $ 7,800,000 in gifts and pledges to raise $ 17 million. Many of these gifts were given at this year’s special fundraising gala, “Opal from the Outback,” which was also a celebration of the retirement of longtime former President and CEO Cheryl Wilson. The event raised a total of $ 200,000, with all proceeds benefiting from the Manor renovation campaign.
