Sparks top Atlanta to keep playoff hopes alive – San Bernardino Sun

College Park, Georgia — Brittney Sykes 17 points, Nekaogumike 15 points, 10 rebounds, Sparks defeated the Atlanta Dream Thursday night, maintaining hopes for the WNBA playoffs.

Sparks (12-19) is behind the Washington Mystics by half a game as the final playoff spot in 9th place. Sparks concludes Sunday’s regular season in Dallas. Mystics (a tiebreaker 2: 1 vs LA record at age 12-18) will play in New York on Friday and host Minnesota on Sunday.

If Washington wins either match, Derek Fisher’s Sparks team coach misses the fifth postseason in the franchise’s 25-year history, ending the playoff berth.

Te’a Cooper added 14 points and Nia Coffee scored 10 points at Sparks on Thursday.

Tiffany Hayes led Atlanta (8-23) with 25 points in his eighth 20-point match of the season. Courtney Williams scored 13 points and 10 rebounds, while the Odyssey Sims scored 11 points.

Dream concludes the regular season with WNBA leader Connecticut on Sunday. Atlanta is 1½ games ahead of the bottom Indiana.
