Southwest Airlines system down: Multiple flights delayed at Hobby Airport, Midway, others due to outage

HOUSTON, Texas – Southwest Airlines announced early Saturday morning that flights are expected to be delayed due to system outages across the country.

An Eyewitness News crew was at Houston International Airport when passengers were informed that they could not board their flight due to downtime and that they would be notified every 10 minutes.

At Chicago Midway Airport, 10 flights were canceled and 54 were delayed. Arrivals were an average of one hour and 13 minutes.
In a statement to ABC News, Southwest apologized for any inconvenience:
“Some of our first departing flights were delayed this morning and some of them were canceled after experiencing periodic technology issues after daily routine maintenance overnight. We warmly apologize to our customers for any inconvenience and thank our staff who work “We will continue to inform Customers whose travel with us today may be delayed as a result of issues that have now been resolved.”
