South Bay music students fight climate crisis with fundraising charity concert

Cupertino, CA (KGO)-Some young South Bay artists have shown that age is just a number when it comes to making a difference.

They are preparing for their next charity concert to raise money to combat California and the subsequent climate crisis.

“I think music can express what you want, what you need, and what you love,” Ben Yang said. “There was a lot of climate change. I want to help make the world a better place.”

“At this concert, especially all our music and what we play is related to climate themes and weather themes,” said Alisa Shu. “I think this plays a big role in making people understand how important this issue is and how we need to act.”

For nearly 20 years, Jinye “Raincat” Wang has provided students with a choice of reasons why they want to raise money and awareness through charity concerts.

“They have the opportunity to learn this beautiful thing and bring it to the community,” Wang said. “Then we can use our music to reach some people. They will either donate or help spread the word to more people.”
