San Diego — A massive fire broke out in a car demolition yard in South Bay on Saturday afternoon, releasing heavy smoke into the air.
The garden is located on Cactus Road in Otaimesa, just south of State Highway 905.
San Diego Fire Rescue Reported a flame It was not clear when and how the flames began, but it was open to the public around 12:30 pm. “Many crew members are on the scene with air support,” SDFD said on Twitter.
There were no initially reported evacuation or injuries.
By 1 pm Emergency response was importantApproximately 70 personnel, at least 6 fire trucks, 2 helicopters, 2 trucks and 4 water trucks (tanker-style vehicles designed to carry large amounts of water) were involved. Dangerous goods crew and medics were also on the scene.
The Chula Vista Fire Department has sent some of its resources to assist the SDFD crew.

San Diego police said not everyone would follow FOX5 at around 1:15 pm, but the fire department said local businesses were told to pack and evacuate for the day.
