Silicon Valley Power Launches EV Charging Assistance Program for Multifamily Housing, Schools

Silicon Valley Power, the electric company owned by the city of Santa Clara, has launched a new program to help properties, schools and multi-family businesses successfully plan, finance and install EV charging stations.

Eligible multi-family housing complexes and small to mid-sized businesses are eligible for a free custom EV charging design report and technical assistance throughout the design and installation process. Otherwise, a $250 copay is required.

The city says the program aims to increase access to EV charging stations, which can often be a barrier to increased EV adoption for people who live in apartments where there is no opportunity to charge their car where they live. This program will increase vehicle ownership opportunities for people who want access to the benefits that EVs provide.

Silicon Valley Power has partnered with CLEAResult https://www.clearesult.com/ Provide technical assistance for suitable properties to support project planning, assistance with building permits, bidding and contractor selection. The program will offer advanced design strategies that support the most EVs at lower costs, including Level 1 charging ports and Level 2 power management.

Properties receiving technical assistance will also have access to preferred pricing for car charging stations and will help receive applicable discounts.
