Sheriff’s Department Cites Natural Causes As Manner of Death for Inmate, 64

One detainee was found not to be responding to San Diego Central Prison died of natural causes, authorities said on Thursday.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department described Thursday’s autopsy as a “preliminary manner of death”. When the full autopsy report is received, the specific cause of the man’s death will be revealed, officials said.

Lawmakers conducting security checks on the seventh floor of the prison found the 64-year-old detainee shortly after midnight on Wednesday. Doctors pronounced him dead shortly before 1 a.m.

The department continued to hide the man’s name as officials tried to find his family members.
