SDPD: Man shot twice in chest near Mountain View cemetery

A man was shot twice in the chest Tuesday night near a cemetery in San Diego’s Mountain View neighborhood, police said.

The shooting was reported at about 10:15 p.m. on Southlook Avenue, south of Imperial Avenue, said San Diego Police Officer John Buttle. The road is just south of the Home of Peace Cemetery, a small cemetery adjacent to the larger Mount Hope Cemetery.

The 911 caller who reported the shooting told police a 44-year-old man had been shot in the chest, Battle said. When police arrived, they found a man with two gunshot wounds to the chest.

Rescuers rushed the man to hospital, but the severity of his injuries was not immediately known.

No information on the perpetrator was immediately available, according to Battle, who said police cordoned off the scene and searched for evidence Tuesday night.

No other information was immediately available.
